Snug and Cozi
In 1996 and 1997 on Children's ITV there appeared the adventures of two crazy spacemen from a far off planet who had crashlanded into the Earth and befriended a Human. Their names were Snug and Cozi, an invention of Richard Vobes and starred Nigel Cooper and Richard Vobes. From a pilot programme made in 16mm film by Richard, the series idea was sold to Scottish Television who produced the programmes for the ITV Network.

Richard was never completely happy with the way STV had produced the series, due to budget restrictions and script alterations, but it did achieve a good share of the children's viewing available and the then commissioning editor, Venessa Chapman was thrilled to have them as part of the mix on CITV. Alas she left her post at ITV and was replaced with Nigel Picard, who had political differences with STV and axed a number of children's programmes, including Snug and Cozi, for unrelated reasons.
Determined to bring the spacemen back, either in books or as a cartoon strip or animation and who knows maybe a live action show, Richard is working on ideas. More on that shortly.
In 1998, Snug and Cozi were the headline stars of a pantomime at the Civic Theatre in Doncaster in a production of Cinderella in which they swallowed a dictionary and learned to speak English. The show as a great success and the kids loved the crazy antics of the nutty spacemen.
