Fancy a stroll for a few days?
Part of the Vobes 2010 plan is to get out into the country side more and explore the fabulous British Isles. To that end I am planning a series of reasonably long walks which will take several days to complete and take me and anyone accompanying me along some amazing ancient pathways as well as walking through some of Britain's most splendid scenery.
The project would be videoed and have audio podcasts produced along the way and fans of the Vobes Show can follow the trips in real time on the website as we update out location on Google Maps, Tweet our position and thoughts and update the photos as we walk.
The first proposed walk is a series of short walks, about 12-15 miles. Then a couple of 30 miles walks with an over night stop in a bed and breakfast in a nice village, and then something biiger. In March I would like to do the Icknield Way which runs a total of 105 miles in length from Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire to Knettishall Heath in Norfolk. It consists of prehistoric pathways, ancient when the Romans came and even has rumours that it goes back to the Jurassic period.
I am rather hoping that I can find either some other walkers to join me for the whole journey or perhaps some people who just fancy popping along for one or two days on this fabulous route. In an ideal situation and being impatient, I want to crack on on this in mid February, but I do hope the weather is reasonable. Cold is fine as we shall soon warm up as we move along, but rain and snow are not so jolly bedfellows.
Later on I have thoughts of the Offa's Dyke. This is the 192 mile trail that separated Wales from England and equally has some specular scenery and interesting places to look at along the way. Interested? Get in touch!
