Authors Chat - Video episodes about my approach to writing ...

Since I was small I loved to read and enter a world of fantasy. My interest in writing children's books came when I started to make my own amateur movies with my super 8mm cine camera. I started to write scripts and send them off to television stations. One day, a letter came backs saying, 'This author should be encouraged!' In these short videos I talk about my writing ideas and experiences.

Episode Three

I am not a professional illustrator and I do not pretend to be, but in this video I share how I approached the artwork for my first children's book.

Episode Two

From the initial idea to the first draft, Richard explains the two main methods of writing a novel and which one works for him. Also how he keeps the story together and the characters in his head.

Episode One

It was back in 1988 that the idea first sprang to mind and Richard wrote the first line, which still appears in the final draft: 'It was always raining in the land of Gud'.
